A lot of us are torn between passing on Darnold and taking Barkley. The great Gil Brandt said Barkley is the best player he has scouted since 1960. Last year Giants nation was flipped upside down when Manning was benched. Now comes the what if?!?! The Saints 2 years ago were pretty pathetic. One solid draft and poof there on top. Probably would of went to the Super Bowl if there wasn’t a missed tackle at the end of the Vikings game. In 2007 the Giants has questionable off season free agency. Old Sam Madison and RW McQuarters. But Reese actually drafted well that year with the right veterans and draft it pushed them all the way to a Super Bowl victory.
In comes Nate Solder probably the most important free agent signing since Plaxico. Eli has lacked confidence in his protection in years. He can now sleep at night. In comes Latimer Webb Thomas Shepherd Ohmame And Ogletree adding aces in special teams and a younger more consistent guard on the right side of the interior line. And a MLB to stabilize the defense that can stop the run cover and blitz In comes Stewart an older but hard working garbage man who does all the little things we all forget about that doesn’t light up the stat sheets like 3rd and 1 or that key 3rd down blitz pick up. Or even that guy in the locker room that keeps things positive even during hard times
Then the draft class. Barkley was touched by god says Gettleman. A back with Dickerson speed Sanders agility and burst Payton heart and Faulks hands. NFL puts out the perfect running back those are probably the traits they would pick from. So we have the perfect back? Hernandez maybe a better guard prospect the Nelson. If he has arms 2 inches longer he probably would of been picked top 10. Carter is tall strong athletic that could make a good draft great. What about Hill. I heard he was the reason why Chubb had the season he had. Someone has to be a force on the inside so great DEs can be one on one Is Lauletta a launchpad to get Webb and Manning the burst needed to take another step forward? Not to mention McIntosh and a handful of undrafted free agent rookies that may force there way into the 53 like Haley Brown Davis and company. Watch out for Gates and Martin as well
Is this the offseason period like the Saints last year or the Giants in 2007 that can take this team fromworst to first ? What’s your take
