Just some idle thoughts
1. WASH. GAME...Might be bigger than we thoought. I have read that they were 6-1 coming into the game. They had three weeks to prepare for game two and the Giants had crippling injuries.
Maybe this team can do damage in the playoffs - provided that they get there.
2. GUTS in abundamce..how often have the agenda driven " Daboli has no confidence in DJ" 4 & 9 and he goes for it aand the young man delivered. 3 &9 on that drive, he gets hit by three villians and delivers a laser into tight coverage.
3. RECEIVING CORP. Not only handicapped by lack of talent, they haven't had time to work with Jones. Quite extraordinary what they've accomplished and credit Jones.
Our "turnover" machine leads the league in lowest turnovers. 1% of his passes intrcepted ..also a leauge low. But the naysayers move on. No vision and shepard wrote "the receivers aren't even in the right place."
I know it was right to dump Toney, still I unrealistically wish he was here and we could at least imagine him for this last run.
4. SAQUON...watched the bobby Skinner oine report. Wow, just wow, the smallest hole and he sees it, squirts through, violent spins and makes something out of a bare something.
Flat pass, defender has him lined up. or so he thought, he's face down in the grass with one of the most "forcing" moves you'll ever see, turns the corner and they barely contain him.
Downfield blocking by WR's seeminly is absent. Meant so much to Tiki.
Saquon is so good, so special, that just watching him is worth the price of admission.
5. Mgmt. Not sold yet. Should have recognized this team could compete.
James could have been signed. Right guard is an awful signing. I wish we had Logan Ryan or even Peppers now.
Mgmt. couldnt'have found a returner. Adoree as a returner is almost criminal malfeaseance.
I'm sympathetic to most failed draft picks. A guy can have skills, be properly analyzed and yet 40% of top picks fail and 50% of Qb's in the top ten bust.
But Flott and Wandale looked flawed and obviously so.
WAndale almost a late first rounder and safer alternates were in abundance.
6. Oh boy is Williams a pro's pro. Ojulari, D.Lawrence, Thibs....brilliance
Defense is close, six "probowl types
(defined loosely) Some nice players like Julian Love to round out the superb ones. And Wink looks like the goods too.
7. I think the O line will be good next year and we don't have to invest much. Alot depends on 2nd. year growth from Evan - I'm confident. GAtes a very good center, Bredeson a very good guard, two bookends and prospects to challenge for ORG.
Finite resources into Receiver, CB, receivers, tight end, lastly aN inside backer. Team won superbowls with Chase Blackburn amd Reggie Torbor, the positon has evolved, lost some importance.... Better coverage makes better pass rush makes better run stoppage and inside backers don't play in the nickel and teams increasinly play in the nickel as standard set.
More thoughts, but you all deserve mercy.
