the only important part of that is the guaranteed part. 100 mm guaranteed is pretty low. His agent probably will seek more than that. the cap goes up every year remember.
Considering that the cap will go up each year, 33mm per year guaranteed for 3 years is not a big contract. A Big contract is 200+ mm guaranteed.
Deshawn Watson got 230mm fully guaranteed. That's 46 mm per year for 5 years fully guaranteed. Rusell Wilson also. Jones won't get that kind of offer from anybody. But less than half of that? I don't see why DJ wouldn't get at least that.
Teams like Dallas make big mistakes based off of 1 real good season with Dak. This is what happens.
I’m sure Schoen will not offer a 5 year 200 million contract based off of 1 year of improved play. Danny is playing better but has not earned top tier money yet.
If Danny and his agent feel he will grow into that QB they maybe willing to take a 2 year contract. Bet on themselves and go for the 40 plus million down the road. I still think the #s are about the same as was discussed by Stoney and his contacts. I’m sure those numbers are going up but still not where most think.
My guess is 3 year 70-75 million. If Danny beats the Eagles and plays well in the playoffs and wins a game it 2 that can quickly grow to 90 million.
For the most part, the only number that is relevant is the guaranteed number. (and signing bonus).
The total number should not bother fans in the least. If that 200 mill (not guaranteed number) is hit it means the player hit the crazy incentives (like all pro, winning a super bowl, threw for 50 TDs, etc.)
Get it?
Teams want to give players a high contract with incentives (without a high guaranteed number) and the player wants a high guaranteed number without need to hit any incentives.
