Ok guys. I said it on the other Danny thread that if Daniel Jones becomes the guy or potentially the guy. I will be the first one to eat an apology sandwich to him and all of you.
My Apologies
How did I come to this conclusion?
Well I went back to the 1st Washington game and rewatched most of Danny’s snaps as a passer and runner. First thing I can say he has improved on is getting the ball out quicker. He is finding his targets a little faster than the beginning of the year. Is he understanding the offense better? Is he getting better protection? Is he getting a more reliable targets to throw too? A little of everything. Hodges definitely has given Danny a comfort zone. Slayton can pop a big one, Bellinger is still learning but is an improvement as a TE catcher, James is doing a little better. And finally Danny is getting the ball to Barkley as a catcher. It’s not perfect but it’s definitely better.
2nd I played very close attention to Danny’s feet and hips. From the waste down Danny has cleaned up a few things. Especially in his reset if he comes off his first read. Things are slowing down a little for Danny it does appear. Again I think it’s getting more comfortable in the offense and his targets as well
It does appear that with another season under Daboll with a more improved line and a few more play makers. Danny could become a Qb to tangle with.
Danny still has a few hurdles to cross. A head to head shoot out vs an elite team. Maybe we get that vs the Eagles or on the wild card. I still would like to see him sit back and pick apart a defense as a passer. This is not a knock on Danny. It’s 2 things we have not seen yet.
Schoen and Daboll need to explore a veteran Receiver to trade for. Personally I would love to see Tyler Boyd here and another guy drafted to pair with Hodges and Robinson. Remember Robinson injury probably will not put him on the field until October/November 2023. Find a veteran center in his Prime (Vikings Bradberry comes to mind) and draft or sign a stud guard. Maybe a nice veteran corner will be added as well
Don’t take this the wrong way. If a good QB prospect falls to the Giants day 2. It wouldn’t hurt to take him. Danny has shown he will get hurt and miss games plus Taylor in 2023 is in his last year of his contract. A quality back up is becoming more and more important. Look at how many teams lost there starting QB for multiple games this year
Once again. To Danny and his supporters
I’m Sorry!!
Go Giants
