I wonder if Claude Rains had any idea that that line would survive for a century and work it's way into the language...
Anyway and continuing my uneducated / ill informed/ unqualified analysis.
The most secure belief I have this year is that Evans will develop into a fine tackle and that Peart will be a good swing tackle.
The assumption is that Thomas continues his pro-caliber play and that Schmitt (24 years wise) anchors the center position.
I think it's possible that the potential of those worthies is so high that the offensive unit could survive mediocre guard play..
But i think there's enough applicants (suspects?) that it's not unreasonable to assume that good coaching can produce some real players- and if that happens, this line could be a positive for a decade or more and virtually be the cart-horse and the logistics that feeds the calvary.
Sorry if I'm flowery this AM.
Marcus Ethanlan (sp?) and wyatt Davis...intriquing and maybe only because we know so little about them.
Josua Ezeudu....a story often told here. He had an uneven rookie year, good on run, poor passpro. Coming on when injury hit, I think he has star quality.
Mark Glowinski...poor, just poor, not uneven, no flashes just aspirations for mediocrity providing an overreach. Well maybe not. Poor center next to him, uneven rookie on the other side. Asute management pegged his value at 18 million for three years. Experienced, let's see.
Bredeson...maybe too valuable as first back up at every interior position. I think he's dependable and average, high basement low ceiling type..and that's not so bad.
Ezeuedu....this kid flashes and his emergence might push this unit into the posh rent district.
Scott Lemieux...Injured for two years in a row, he was showing potential and he has the boards disregard going for him. Seldom right and usually a reverse ratio to rhetoric....the more certain the negativity here the more soaring the success rate....reference thomas, Jones, Barkley, Slayton...and years of denigration here.
regardless. Scott might struggle to make the roster, he might just as easily be a surprise starter who has worked hard and learned during his injury hiatus.
Best bet? Wyatt and Marcus remain intriquing prospects. Bredeson no 1 backup at the 3 interior positions and Ezeudu and Glowinsky start and provide compentency and stability for an offense that s loaded with star power....Scot makes the reserve list and is back up to the backup.
Hoping there's more compentency and qualified insights out there than Ive provided and the thread elicits them.
