I think the abundance and redundancy at offense can be a problem.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and call this the best group of skill players I've ever seen wearing the blue...well, maybe Gifford, Rote, Shofner and YA.
sometimes teams never establish an identity and they try to be all things at once.
I see 12 formations because I think Bellinger is going to have a break out year. Is that the emphasis, is that an identity?
Maybe the best runner in the game, are we a running team.?
POssesion receievers in a abundance, do we emphasize Isiah Hodgins , Beasley, Wandale and Shep.
Do we just play that bunch in the red zone?
Stretch the field and put Jalin Hyatt, Darius Slayton and Paris Campbell out there with Waller. And they'be go another look/another identity and maybe things really open up for Saquon.
Do they want to use Dannys legs and emphasize the Read Option?
Colin Johnson and Crowder are going to be cut (likely so, anyway). I like both of them and C.Johnson is some 6-3 or so too. I think that indicates the deep and diverse talent pool they've accumulated at the skill positions (Speaking of..."skill", always bothered me, as if playing OLT doesn't require as much guile as running back or TE).
The versaility of this group is highlighted by Waller, who is neither WR nor TE. But the WR room offers two very different type of receivers, Danny can run like a half back, and Saquon is not only a great runner this year I think you'll see him running routes down field.
I think we have great coaching, maybe they can pull off "all things to all people" and submit highly individual game planes..."this week I'm a running team"....next week I'm a deep passing team and the week after that I'm goiing to two tight ends and use possession type receivers...and after that .....""!!
Probably won't work. Simplify and establish a consistent indentity is probably more effective. But how do you do that?
