I took a visit over to the CowboysZone fan forum. I thought I'd share a few of the viewpoints and thoughts of Cowboys fans about the Giants heading into their week one matchup. Some of the comments are from pure homers but there were quite a few that I thought had realistic and interesting views of the Giants.
"Propped up by the media."
"I like their coach this is a tell all season for him. We'll see if there is continued improvement. I hope for our sake there isn't.
I don't see our defense giving up more than 14. If Dak doesn't contribute to their point total we can walk away with a W."
"I think they will be improved but possibly have a worse record than last year.
I don't believe in Jones, and I don't understand the Thibodeaux hype."
"Their offense will be better. Defense is solid, well coached team. That said they are not one of the top tier teams in the NFL. A solid team that can beat you if you are not on your game. Plus any division game is tough even though Dallas has owned them in the past this is a new year."
"Pollard outplayed Barkley last year in rushing and receiving."
"They are starting a 6th round corner and a dude waived from the Jets at saftey? L M A O if we don't expose these guys I will have legitimate concerns about our season."
"I think they were 1-1 against us in 2020 with Andy Dalton starting. From there you have to go back to 2016 when they beat us twice. Again, Dak was technically the backup. They went 1-1 against us in 2015, again beating a backup QB. Hell, I don't remember the last time the Giants beat us when we had our starting QB."
"Live in NJ, until today worked in NYC...
He's right. The fans have their chest puffed up and are talking BS. "Danny dimes this..." and "Sequon that". They have Dexter Lawrence. We lost Zeke. Dak throws INTs.
Ironically, they have grudging respect for Dak, but they also are the first to dis him as well.
I think this first game is dangerous for a team like the Cowboys that is already talking SB. If this defense is what it thinks it is, we should be able to handle Danny Dimes."
"It’s all fun and games for the Giants until Danny Dimes takes a blind side hit from Parsons."
"Outside of RB and DT, there isn’t a position group in which the Giants are better than or equal to the Cowboys. In most cases, the Cowboys have a significant talent advantage. The Giants don’t match up particularly well with the Cowboys either. Like last Thanksgiving, the Giants are capable of keeping it close for a half or three quarters, but they’ll eventually start falling behind."
"They are definitely closing the gap, but I still think they are a few pieces away to legitimately challenge for the division"
"Has anyone looked at their schedule?

I don’t see a lot of wins early."
"I am not worried about the Giants. Teams with a winning record that have a negative point differential for the year have generally been very lucky or has won an above average number of close games. There will be regression to the mean. Same for the Vikings. Never has a team gone 13-4 and had a negative point differential."
"Unless we just mess the bed and turn the ball over repeatedly it’s hard to see us losing to the NYG as long as Daniel Jones is QB. Barkely usually gets injured. One of their WRs goes down. We have just owned them for so long it’s hard to imagine that changing."
"It's a division game and the Giants are definitely improving. This isn't the Judge/Garrett years along with that buffoon GM they had. I wish they all stuck around but unfortunately someone over there wisened up."
"The Cowboys havent won a season opener since 2019 and will be on the road against a team that is massively improved. This game wont be easy at all"
"I think massive improvement is pretty hyperbolic. They added a good TE. They still have a lot of holes in their secondary and OL that will be their downfall. But any team can beat anyone and Week 1 is always a mess."
"They have no wrs and no dbs in a passing league. If we lose we cheeks. Period"
"How did the giants improve? Seriously"
"Daniel Jones was much improved by the time the Playoffs came around, and they've added a good TE and several slot WRs.
I feel this will be a competitive game, but Dallas Defense will be too much for those guys."
"Giants always keep it close but they don’t have the talent to win 4 qtrs with this team"
"The Giants are an improved team. I believe they overachieved greatly last year, but that type of year tends to give a team confidence. I agree that we are the better team, but the Giants are no push over. They've built the team the right way....along the line of scrimmage. They have a pretty good OL now. The DL is very good.
Two things really work in our favor. Daniel Jones is still their QB. I know he's better than he was.....but he' still the third best QB in the division by far. The other thing working in our favor...I believe I read that they plan on starting two rookie CBs. CD Lamb and Brandin Cooks should be able to get open on them. The question is, can we give Dak time?
I don't fear any team this year. We have a very good team. But in the NFL, any team can win any night. I think this will be a tough opener. I think we will win, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if we don't."
"Giants have a much improved roster, but are probably still a year or two away depending on their QB. Waller is a matchup nightmare and Barkley still can beat you in many ways, but their receivers are more slot types."
"I think the Cowboys beat the Giants 7 out of 10 times if they played that many. I'm just really struggling to buy them this year. They are an OK team that will have a puncher chance at winning this game, but one that the Cowboys should be able to handle. I think it becomes very difficult for Daniel Jones to duplicate last years success, especially with an extremely low int number he put up in 2022. Waller is a nice add, but overall their skill players on offense are underwhelming outside of Barkley. Oline is pretty suspect going into the year. Defensively they have a nice front four but the back end should make Giant fans nervous. They are a team that has to capitalize on opponent mistakes at a high rate and protect the football to stay in games. If not I just can't see them putting up points to hang in there against the better offenses in the league."
"The Giants don't scare me. They exceeded expectations last year, and I expect they regress to the mean this season.
Yeah they are building, but they played well above expectations last season. They have no wrs in a passing league. I expect Waller to be a target monster at TE though. Barkley will be tough again, but there just aren't a lot of weapons to worry about. Missing on Toney set them back at the position."
"This is the perfect tune-up game for the starters who didn't get any pre-season reps."
"I think that getting to play against rookie CBs in game 1 is an advantage for us. That’s a lot of inexperience out on the edge with not much time to settle in to the game at the pro level.
I can see Cooks and Ceedee feasting next week"
"People are overrating them a bit IMO.
NYG won three of their last ten games.
I liked their draft and taking fliers on Basham and Simmons are good value plays. Coaching is great on both sides similar to Dallas structure.
Specials are terrible and along with OL doesn’t seem to be improved. Roster wise they are pretty far behind Dallas.
QB, OL, WR, DE, LB, DB Dallas is substantially better. They have elite guys at OT and DT. Depth doesn’t factor in as much week one but they have basically none anywhere."
For the most part, Cowboy fans are confident that they are going to win the game on Sunday but acknowledge the Giants may be closing the gap between the two teams. Such a great rivalry between these teams. Sunday night can't get here fast enough!!
