Mgmt. been handed a welcome mat; the hate of Getts making a new face (or any face) a face of unparalled beauty and any stroke an act of genius.
But there's questions:
1 Leaving Jones in with rain and a second team offensive line is inexcusable. I'm a guy who greys things and can always see the other side. this is one of those instances where I can't. Harmful, negative, incompetent and indefensible in the literal meaning of the word.
2. 18 million to Glowinsky. the man had a PFF grade that's one of the lowest ever recorded. that's not just bad, that's criminally bad. bobby skinner said it's the worse performance he's ever seen. And there's no alternative to this that's a double indictment.
3 Waller we have a host of weapons on the offense and this was a player turning 30 who was released (at least partially) because of injury problems. Even if he's whole, and even if he's superb ,the question becomes "wouldn't this money (and finite resource) have been better spent on an offensive lineman not named Glowinsky.??
4. The 2022 draft. I'm not going to lean to heavily on the Neal and Thibs pick, nevertheless, they are underperforming their draft status. But if they stumble and if Wan'dale continues bust status, this does not look like good return (again, as of this writing) for two top ten picks and a high second rounder.
5. Special Teams.....Ahh c'mon, a easy field goal is blocked and returned for a pick six and the season might have gone downfield with the return. Inexcusable and obvious even in preseason.
6. Game Planning....it's raining, your line can't pass block, your right tackle is being beat, your right guard might as well be sitting in row 8 section Nirvana. Why continue to throw, why not line up a tight end outside of Neal?
7. Releasing James Bradberry. Cap my foot, the cap was designed to be tight that year, ir could have been manueverd and if we held onto James, Phila is weakened, we might have gone deeper in the playoffs,' and, most importantly, we don't have to spend draft capital to move up to get Banks and we could have drafted an interior lineman. Yes, and still could have gotten JMS in round two.
Conclusion: This is mostly about a fan overreacting and displaying impatience along with a lack of knowledge that all "know it all " fans are guilty of. I"m also, like all fans, empowered by the second guess time arms us with.
There's good things and every criticism listed above is subject to revision. I'm a fan, deferred gratification is for the rationals and mature, give me a few good games and I'll disavow this thread and claim I've supported this management group all along. That's how we get by and live to make fools of ourselves agaIN with self confidence and a sense of what could have been.
