There are lamatations littering the Halls of bbwc...many charging a lack of talent on the D and a lack of a cogent plan.
I don't get it, the talent is there and Wink...is well Wink.
Let's look at it by individual units.
The Front (and I'm goiing to assume that we play a standard 3-4....and recognize that assumption is limited).
Lawrence, Williams and Robinson backed up by Ruiz. Davidson and the exciting Jordon Riley...
OK, I turned the paper upside down and pulled out my magnififying glass..it always comes out the same ...this is a group that's as good as any in football and it's a group with depth... my grade is A+
Linebackers.....Thibs, Olujari, McFadden, Bobby Okereke with Beaver, Isiah Thomas and Jihard WArd.
The talent and potential is dream-like. Bobby O a tackling machine with great range. Olujari, Simmons, and Thibs representing an almost unaccountable amount of draft capital (among the three a high second rounder, and two top five picks.....
Remember too that the modern game sees the nickel more than standard set and that this team won with linebackers like Jeff Torborg and Chase Blackburn.
No way this group shouldn't be adequate as a basement and brilliant and league best based on draft capital and potential..
Grade I dunno...C+?? Potentially A++
CORNERS....here's the rub...2 rooks. and Jackson...
But remember this, the rooks beat out Flott and Hawley and McCloud...Hawly and Flott may not be among the best but they were experienced decent pros...So Banks and Hawkins are playing by virtue and not by default.
Grade..?? agaom they earn a "I dunno" and potentially a C
Safeties....McKinney, Belton,Pinnock, McCloud and McCain and no Love whatsoever.
Potentially it's hard to look at this group and not see the talent. The Love they don't get, might mean no cohesion and leadership exacerbated by no play in the preseason. I think they'll bind and grow...
OVERALL CONCLUSION.... Well coached and very talented on paper, I think we have to sit back and let the pot simmer. I think that talent will out and before the year is over this group will help drive the G Men to the playoffs.
