What an odd time to have a change in captains. The boat has just turned and now we are about to get up to full speed and the leader behind the wheel is Tyrod Taylor. Half of me is surprised. Coach Dabbol had a predictive answer to the question is there a QB controversy in New York? That is not the right question-- is your own value in yourself now on the line coach? have people started talking in the background that you have a habit of putting blame on others?
Hey where the blame lies.. I have no problem with that but the Now the league image on Dabbol is starting to waver and he needs to take back control his image.
And for that reason this very difficult discussion to keep Danny away for a while I think is being made RIGHT NOW. I mean NOW. Would you really do that to a $160 mln Quarterback. I thought no. The money was too much; the commitment by the Giants too deep...
But self preservation rises above all and the needle of pain is starting to slowly turn from Danny and Schoen to Brian. It's just missing him now but watch out.
Danny has had a season of not seeing the field. His processing time is way UP.. in a bad way.. meaning he slow too process Defensive looks, he is not understanding what he sees on the field, his mind has regressed and it was never in a strong place to begin with. Jones & The Jet quarterback share this problem.
In a bigger sense timing. Jones does not release the ball before a receiver makes his break, he has no confidence in knowing where to put he ball. Only after a rout is run and aplayer is open will Jones decide to chuck it.. in the ever speedier NFL this does not work. Look at Tua... he throws the ball before the rout is finished and all the up and coming QBs do-- you have to know where to put the ball ahead of the receiver even knowing. Danny is not doing this. I would set up bow & arrow targets on the field and have him hit those targets. Once he can hit a bulls eye repeatedly then I have receivers finish routs into those target areas.. that's X Z Zip this is G 3 delta whatever.. hit target 3<--- Hit Target 4 _--just mind numbingly easy for Danny...
Jones comes back for the Jet game. Although that Jet defense I want no part of and initially I thought Tyrod better for that game now that I have clearly thought about it- Tyrod's strengths work well to winning an ugly game with Washington.. they do not match up well with the Jets. I want Danny back for that game.
Does the team?
That is the big question if Tyrod just methodically beats Washington in a non exciting low scoring game we are in a good place-- Back to Danny for the Jets with him hopefully having seen field progressions from a different point of view and he should come back refreshed.
If Tyrod ignites one of our receivers like Hyatt... that now becomes a problem. Hyatt was targeted I believe 4 times last game and Danny's not targeted him at all when he's been out there. The few times he does get placed on the field it's imporangt to keep this kid interested. I was so happy when Hyatt had that long catch that was called back on a terrible call. This guy needs encouragement and all of our receivers are dying on the vine this year.. we have fast guys, we have guys who catch we don't have a QB who gets them the ball.
After putting a ton of thought into this I believe Dabbol will tell Danny tomorrow your neck hurts for one more week.
