Like many of you, I am tired of the constant rebuilds. Last year gave me hope we might have turned a corner. This year has squashed all that hope. This team isn't just bad but atrocious. We make rookie QBs look good. Our o-line gives up tons of sacks even to bad defenses. Our offense can't score. There have been a lot of injuries but that doesn't excuse just how bad we are. Major changes are needed.
Now, I am not one to root for us to lose but I know this season is lost. We aren't making the playoffs and we have a ton of holes to fill. One of those being QB. There are a couple of good QBs coming out, but we will have to be drafting top 3 in my opinion to have a shot at either of them. That only happens if we lose.
The teams I see drafting high in the 1st round that might go after a QB are Chicago, Arizona, and New England. The Bears have Carolina's pick from when Carolina traded up to get Anthony Richardson. I am not certain the Bears are sold on Justin Fields. Arizona may also pick a QB as I don't think they are sold on Kyler Murray. The Patriots have Mac Jones and he hasn't set the world on fire. There could also be a surprise team to trade up to get a QB.
If we have the chance, I believe we need to grab Caleb Williams from USC or Drake Maye from North Carolina. I know there are those who still feel Jones can be our QB. I've seen enough to feel we need to go in another direction. Yes, I understand we owe Jones a bunch of money. Still, that shouldn't stop us from drafting his replacement. Eventually, we will have to decide that sticking with Jones as our QB isn't worth it and just eat whatever money we have to.
Like all of you, I am tired of losing and watching us stink up the joint year after year. If we stick with Jones, it will be more of the same. There comes a point when you have to say it isn't working out and try a new route. The draft next year may be that start.
