Biggest disappointment of the season to me is overall, the OL has regressed from the previous season. And that's something I would have thought to be impossible to accomplish before the start of the season. Neal not playing to his potential is the real killer. The staff seems to still believe in him so he gets another year to prove he can do it. Staying healthy is part of being a great NFL player and that's a big part of Neal's issue which is vastly concerning.
Still haven't seen a stud #1 WR immerge, Hyatt isn't there yet, not sure if he will or not. A key to me is how many contested and high degree of difficulty catches does the WR haul in, so far, meh. There will be turnover on the WR crew for next year. Wan'dale took about a 1/3 of the season to get back into form from last year's injury, but he looks like a solid spark plug type again. The team needs a Jamar Chase type now to pair with Hyatt's speed on the outside. The rest of them, meh. I'd keep Hodgens for his red zone ability and downfield blocking and a guy who can give spot reps as needed but doesn't have star player written on him. Slayton, he's gone as far as I'm concerned. Paris too. Bring in some young hungry talent.
Barkley is a big question mark. I'm not sure if he is partially hurt or just not going to get himself injured for this team to protect himself contract wise for next year or a bit of both. Seems like he's not invested fully as of late though. Always taking himself out of the game. (With this OL, hard to blame him.) If Barkley and the coaching staff have an agreement of some kind about SB taking himself out of games, so be it. It's really odd to me. I'm a still a big believer in Saquan and behind a good OL he'd be the clear cut #1 RB in the NFL. It's apparently not happening with the Giants as they can never get their OL sorted.
Waller's issue to me is that he isn't tough as nails. Great TEs are tough as nails and can take getting hit all game and keep on grinding. Waller appears to be a 3.5 to 4 on the tough as nails chart which isn't going to cut it.
The defense is a work in progress. They aren't great yet. Another edge is probably necessary. Ojulari has been a disappointment this season. They need the Banks and Flott to continue to develop and add another promising young CB. Another stud DT would be a huge help, but probably too much to ask for. I have a feeling they will try to keep the safeties they have if possible.
Schoen and Daboll will get at least 2 more years. They deserve some criticism, but I'm a firm believer in giving a crew 4 years to see where they can get a team to. At that point, if they cannot fix the player and coaching issues the team has, it's probably not going to happen.
