What's real? By any objective standards there's lots to be optimistic about and almost nothing to be pessimistic about.
With players picked off the waiver lists our offense averaged 27 points and was among the lead leaders in several categories over the last eight. And that was without OBJ for half of the second half.
Why are the pessimists so quick to dismiss that.? Evan should be better this year, Latimer and Fowler better and the offensive line immeasurably better.
If the defense hasn't looked good it still almost has to be much better and not only because of a great draft but because of a year in Betcher's system.

And what the board is degrading into is about the right to be optimistic or hold a contrary view. That isn't disputed with contrasting facts (which would be hard to do objectively) so the Nihilists come up with "its lunacy to be optimistic". Which is a little bit better, but very similar to, the name calling that the sad and bankrupt "wanna be Einstein" comes up with.
The Nihilists are not in
hibited by the fact that they've been consistently wrong on virtually every issue from the trades, drafts, and esp. on the Jones pick that they ridiculed. Nothing stands in the way of the Prime Objective...to feel good about themselves with the put down. "Need" Trumping logic.
And maybe nothing highlights the Nihilistic's view more than the criticism for the view that Jones is going to be special. They condemned his as a bust and called Gettleman an Old man and a disgrace Without seeing the kid play. Then they call the optimists premature for liking the kid AFTER seeing him play. And they pile ahead as if with blinders, actually disputing the good things that are happening.
Forgive me for being optimistic:
The Giant defense stands a chance to be dominant;
The Giant defense will almost certainly be better.
That should make us competitive in almost all of our games through a weak schedule.
