First a qualifier: this is not a criticism of a coaching staff that seems to know it's job and has spent weeks with the players and agonized over these decisions.
Nevertheless, there were several decisions that I just didn't get. In a group of wide receivers that seemed to be overachieving but still Limited. Darius Slayton stood out. His college stats seem to back it up; He darn near set records for yards-after-catch. His route-running seem precise, the early problem with drops seem to solved, he had the ability to get behind the defense and run like a frightened deer afterwards.
He seemed to be exactly what we needed at a position we might be short at.
Trying to sneak a talent like this through waivers might be a huge mistake.
Kyle Lauletta buckled his chin strap and went to work seemingly overcoming earlier troubles. He was a little short of Sensational last week, except for three drops he might have had over 300 yards in the second half. The kid won me over and if I've come to understand the decision, I must admit I was shocked at the time.
We're left with only five defensive lineman, I think that's shocking. Jenkins seemed to have a good camp, Chris Slaytonlooked good and I like the kid who had the sack and forced turnover (Jake C??)
Not shocking, but certainly surprising Joseph Tauaefa (sp?) Was a lock and that the other car lock had a chance and Anderson had played his way on
I thought the injury to Scott Sononson opened the door for Conrad and I thought the kid had a fine future. Perhaps perplexing serves better here, or maybe just surprised.
Wondering what you guys thought. Would also love to put it behind us now and concentrate on Dallas.
