The following analysis was written by Ed Vette. Ed is one of the most knowledgeable football fans I know. He is a season ticket holder and posts at BBH. I think it is an excellent summation of what is being discussed by Giants fans across the various Giants fan forums.

For what it's worth, PFF often records less sacks than the game stats and I'm not sure why. Just guessing, it's because they can't credit someone with a coverage sack. They do however show the eight sacks in the Under Pressure category.
They gave two sacks to Remmers, one to Solder and two sacks to Jones. The Jones credited sacks must have been the result of hanging in the pocket too long or moving into an on rushing Defender. The other three must have been coverage sacks.
Jones had a 90% adjusted Completion %, which is throws on target. He had the second highest NFL passer rating of games played up to that the day. One TD Under Pressure. Second highest dropbacks Under Pressure with 20. Twelve throws Under Pressure and 9 Completions Under Pressure or 75%.
Jones had 3.35 seconds to sack 13th and Murray had 8.6 seconds to sack or 1st. Murray had 2.64 seconds to throw and Jones had 2.58 seconds. Murray had 3.04 seconds in pocket and Jones had 2.98. Murray had the lowest PFF passing grade with a 51.7. Jones was 17 with a 69.4. Jones had 6.4 yards to attempt and Murray was second lowest at 5 YPA.
What does all this tell me along with watching the game?
Jones did pretty damn well Under Pressure but his fumbling grade of a 22.7 is a tangible and real issue as those result in a loss of yards at the very least or a turnover at the worst. It tells me he didn't utilize his checkdowns as he waited too long 8 times to be sacked. It tells me that with a 6.4 YPA and 3.35 seconds to sack and 2.58 seconds to throw that his downfield receivers were not getting open. It tells me that the field was wet and the Receivers didn't get separation. It tells me that since Murray threw only 36% of the time that their HC altered his game to the conditions while Jones passed 62% of the time and Shurmur did not.
It tells me that with a 90% adjusted completion percentage, that Jones didn't have a horrible game. Two sacks, a fumble and two Int's are on him. He was clean 27 out of 35 passing attempts and that's on him and his Receivers and the play called. He was 15th in Play Action % per dropback. Murray was 40%, Cousins 53%, Jackson 46%. Not nearly enough PA and most were in Shotgun.
I put this game squarely on the Shoulders of Shurmur and Bettcher. This young QB needed better support by putting him more Under Center to set up Play Action, Shorter Route play calling with quick release, designed roll outs and a couple of fake handoffs with him running to keep the Defense honest. I even put some of the Offensive line woes on them too. passing 62% on a wet day. He did the same thing to Eli last year when the Giants were shut out at home.
I have no problem with Jones after yesterday but I expect him to clean up the turnovers.
