We Got There! -
Ben McAdoo's travel bag was heavy with self help books as he boarded the team charter flight back to New Jersey. It was somewhat ironic that he be traveling to a toxic state with a toxic governor and more precisely entering a toxic building built upon a very toxic waste site. The pressure has risen as has the ridicule of the Giants to a point that can only be called toxic
and all Ben McAdoo wanted to do was disappear into one of his self help books. Completely lost in the process was the unsettling fact that advice from his favorite self help book The Five Second Rule had led directly to the benching of Eli.-
Adopt the Five-Second Rule—immediately. Anytime you have an idea that seems like a sure thing, act to advance it within five seconds. Why? Because your brain’s main job is to avoid trouble and risk, so in less than five seconds it will persuade you to abandon your idea.
McAdoo's rush to bench Eli and take a long look at Geno Smith was an impulse that should of been reflected upon and indeed the risk and fear of that move should of been disinclined by the brain of the head coach. After 14 years as the NY Giant quarterback why the need for speed? That darn book!
I think if John Mara had asked upfront: "Do you read or feel the need for self help books?" and Mcadoo had answered honestly-- we would not be here right now. We would not have this controversy, we would not have Ben McAdoo as our head coach and we would not have the second pick in the draft. Is that good or bad?
This year aside, the transition had to come at some point, as did the need to pick in the very top of the draft. With Eli we seem a good eight wins every year, good enough but not good or bad enough to truly make a difference. This year Eli was doing a pretty good job of losing but lets be honest, he would of had a chance to beat that Raider team. He might of needed a professional receiver or two but that was a winnable game... and maybe that's the point. Why have Eli win a game or two now?
Ticsh has been to a few of the away games and so has John Mara, they kind of trade off; yesterday BOTH were there to witness Geno Smith lead the Giants to another loss. I think that's significant. The loss earlier this year to the 49ers is proving to be the highlight of the season. We now pick second in the draft! It's amazing! It's a gift. Who will unwrap it?
When the holidays and the draft do arrive there will be two boxes in front of the NY Giant general manager and one box in front of Ben Mcadoo. In Mcadoos box, a beautiful gilded copy of: The Crossroads of Should and Must: Find and Follow Your Passion. This book is about finding meaningful work and/or embarking upon a career change.
Then of more interest to us Giant fans and to Giant ownership, on the table, one big box covered in festive Hanukkah wrapping paper. And one big box wrapped in Christmas themed paper. The Hanukkah present is very tall, 6-foot-4 inches, and weighs 220 pounds. The Christmas present is even taller! 6-foot-5 inches and weighs in at a hefty 233 pounds. Which one will The Giants choose? Which one will be co-owner Steve Tisch's favorite? Which one will be John Mara's favorite?
And Who will be the General manager?~stoney
