I'm starting to wonder about all of that GR. The halcyon days of waiting for youtube to catch up are over.I have minions in the field who assimilate Video from a vast array of household products, doorbells, TV's answering machines... and Twitter. I don't ever go to Twitter but these practice films and static shots are being sent around now and the ideas are being made now earlier than ever. The Giants are scouting Right Now! And so am I.
I'm deathly afraid this will turn into the Official Draft Thread and my wife will really be done with me. Right now she's just sighing a lot.
willie gay at ILB though( (((((->... Wait don't forget we are moving our own Georgia Bulldog INSIDE... and Chase Young will be in the LT like position of stand up LB.... I mean this is the dream... and Ximines is coming on strong so I'm thinking we need a COVERAGE LB- Murray from Oklahoma is good, he is an athletic LB that is very comfortable in coverage, has fluid hips, does a great job of keeping his eyes on the ball/QB and possesses pretty good range not a violent player, Could be meaner.
The Clemson LB is any scouts wet dream. Simmons is a high first round pick...
FOCUS ON OHIO ST CASTOFF TRANSFER TO SLEEPY MARYLAND THEY HAVE A TERRIBLE SEASON AND SURPRISE Keandre Jones is a good player- he is RISING SUPER FAST!!! I saw a list where he had jumped something like 27 slots...
Terrapins struggles = Giant gains? After three years as a reserve linebacker for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Keandre Jones transferred to the University of Maryland and had a breakout season.
Keandre Jones was a four-star recruit coming out of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland. //
He was ranked the No. 9 outside linebacker in the country as a prospect // and was ranked the fourth-best prospect from the state of Maryland. //
Jones is 6-foot-3 220-pound linebacker could stand to be heavier!
Willie Gay Jr.*, OLB, Mississippi State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
12/14/19: Gay was suspended by Mississippi State for violating team rules to start the season . Since coming back, he has 17 tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown.-> what's that all about.... This guy I know was a stud in HS he is super fast What's his coverage skills like?
Troy Dye, ILB, Oregon
Height: 6-4. Weight: 224.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Projected Round (2020): 3-4.
12/14/19: In 2019, Dye has 75 tackles with 2.5 sacks, four passes defended and two interceptions. He's a solid player for the Ducks and showed his toughness by playing with a cast on his hand at the end of the regular season.
Appalachian State LB Akeem Davis-Gaither: At 6-2 and 215 pounds, Davis-Gaither might have been written off as a tweener in another era. His range and athleticism, however, could make him a sought-after asset for teams needing another piece to handle running backs and tight ends in coverage. T
Paddy Fisher*, ILB/OLB, Northwestern-- Interesting name. He has great size 6-foot-4 and 241 pounds. Paddy has been ripping it up for a while now at Northwestern.
Height: 6-4. Weight: 241.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Projected Round (2020): 4-6. <-BIG VALUE!!!
12/14/19: In 2019, Fisher recorded 88 tackles with an interception, seven passes defended and a forced fumble.
Always around the ball for the Wildcats. On the year, he totaled 113 tackles with nine for a loss, four forced fumbles, three passes batted and one interception. If Fisher develops his pass-coverage skills, that will really help him to be an early-round prospect.
Bunch of interesting story lines we have the transfer from Ohio St... and we have the QB turned linebacker... WILL HE DECLARE? --
Chazz Surratt, the North Carolina junior quarterback-turned-linebacker, has gone from a lightly discussed prospect into one of the top players at his position behind a solid first year at LB.
Chazz Surratt (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) may enter the draft, as 2020 is generally considered a weak year at the linebacker position
Overall, the move to linebacker paid immediate dividends Surratt. If he struggled to learn the nuances of the position, it didn’t show up in the statistics. Chazz Surratt led the Tar Heels in tackles (110), tackles for loss (13.5), sacks (6.0) and QB hits (8.0). Just for good measure, he also had an interception, forced fumble, fumble recovery and three pass breakups.!!! Bawler!!
North Carolina LB Chazz Surratt: The rare quarterback-turned-linebacker, Surratt is a surprising fit on the defensive side of the ball. In his first season at the position, the 6-3, 230-pounder led the Tar Heels in tackles (110) and sacks (six). Surratt checks off plenty of boxes for an off-ball linebacker, as he moves easily to the sideline, in coverage and chasing down plays in the backfield.
Going To LA! Yup I'm heading out on a Scouting trip in Feb. Evan Weaver PICK UP THE PHONE!! I was just kidding.
After he got suspended for violating team rules Walter football dropped him down to the 11th rated lb in the draft.
Willie Gay Jr.*, OLB, Mississippi State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
12/14/19: Gay was suspended by Mississippi State for violating team rules to start the season. Since coming back, he has 17 tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown.
6/29/19: Even though Gay wasn't eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft, he jumped out to team sources as a player who impressed them on a defense loaded with future NFL talent. In 2018, Gay recorded 48 tackles with 5.5 for a loss, five sacks, two interceptions and one pass batted. Gay could build on his performance now that he has a year of experience in the SEC.
I don't think DG would ever draft willie gay jr. though... >>>
but if you can get a high second round late first round value in round 3 or 4? Would you? I know I would. When he is kicking arse int he NFL for years nobody is going to remember he got caught cheating on his college schoolwork. As if they all don't have tutors doing their work for them! please!
That being said, it's too early to grade these players yet. But that dude should be on the radar for sure IMO. IDK maybe he is a thug and the NYG want no part of him. Who knows? maybe he isn't as good as he looks in last year's highlights? Or maybe he is. Maybe he grows up and becomes a great professional. Who can say?
what I do know Is I love the traits I see on the highlights. specifically, what i see that I like is that he is faster than safeties and cbs. He is faster from point A to Point B then the safeties and cbs and he plays LB. He is faster than ryan connely. Faster than Isaiah Simmons. He looks faster from A to B than jabrill Peppers. I like guys that show special traits on film. Again, I think it's rare to see a guy who looks like he can just turn on a dime and get 0-60 in a blink. I think we can work with that. But like i said, I doubt DG even has him on his Big board, due to character concerns. He may go back to school anyway. >>>>>
PS pff has willie gay jr as their second best rated lb, citing his strong zone coverage skills>>>>
2. Willie Gay Jr., Mississippi State
Gay has as much speed as any linebacker in the country. On the very first series against Kentucky — the only game he’s played so far this season — Gay took a pick back for six. He may never be a plus run defender, but he’s not undersized by any means at 6-2, 240 pounds. As a freshman and sophomore, he earned coverage grades of 87.1 and 90.6, respectively, as he’s got terrific zone instincts.
