There's an article in the post that basically says the obvious, tonight neither Eli nor the Giants have anything to lose. The writer hopes Eli comes out tonight and plays like it was a HS or college game, where he just plays and has fun being the QB of the NY Giants. That's what I hope he does, go out with your head held high doing what you do best.
I don't feel sorry for him because he's too much of a class act to want people to feel sorry for him. I could care less about how much money he's made and how many people blame him for the teams record the last few years. He's always been a winner and a class act. He led the team to, other than the Jets beating the Colts in SB3, the most improbable SB win yet and then repeated it. He had the team in position for possibly the first back to back SB wins until Plax shot himself. He's provided us with many a good game in these 16 years and it's a shame the team couldn't have provided him with a better OL etc. when he was in his prime.
It's a shame these last few years have tainted people's perspective of him. While its not fair to compare DJ already missing a game because of injury to Eli's streak of playing in 200+ consecutive games there's already a difference. While it may be the media stirring the pot you never heard Eli speak out against his benching for Geno or being replaced by DJ after only 2 games but yet you hear snippets about DJ being unhappy. While you have to admire his competitiveness, learn from how Eli carried himself because he had much more credibility, shut up and ride the bike while your ankle heals.
We knew Eli's time was here but I can't help but wonder with the way the division is if we wouldn't be talking about tonight's game being meaningful for a playoff spot if Eli was the QB. I'm not saying this team could contend for the SB but would being in playoff contention have been good for this young team and allow DJ to come into next season with a more seasoned team.
We'll never know. So Eli come out tonight, have fun in front of a hostile Philly crowd playing against a team who needs a win and just ball out.
