We are all talking draft. 2nd overall pick. Eli stays or goes? Can Eli win this team another Super Bowl? Is he a medium tear QB that needs a strong support team all around him? Do the Giants have enough cap space and a good enough draft to build that around Eli next year? We all love Eli. Always will. But is he really the answer? There are so many decisions this team needs to make and that will weigh on the new GM from even wanting to come here Even a new head coach
This is my solution. It probably will not happen this way. But it’s my way of thinking
One thing I do know I without a QB in this league even a talented team can’t win more then a handful of games. Look at Denver, Houston, Buffalo , Bengals even the Bears. All of those teams are arguably good football teams and with a solid QB under center there records would be completely different
Second thing I know is they drafted Webb and he hasn’t been active for one game. Is he that far behind? Is he the future? True tj is not even our new GM and Coach knows that answer So no. We don’t enter the 2018 draft thinking reload and give Eli his shot and Webb is the guy.
The Giants may not pick 2 or 3 for years maybe decades. In 2018 they have a golden opportunity to put themselves in a good situation. You draft a QB. This is why
Every year everyone is wrong. 2 years ago Goff and Wentz were not worth a top pic. They both were not NFL ready. Wrong. Mitchell T was the best in that group Everyone else were needing years on the bench. Wrong. Most QBs all see the same thing. Just at different speeds. Watson , Wentz and Goff proves everyone wrong Even Carr Even Bortles has proven everyone wrong if you have the right coaches and people around them. Take a QB. Having Eli the unknown Rosen or Darnold and Webb is a good problem to have. Especially with Eli turning 37
I’m not sure. But the giants have 15-20 free agents contracts up after this season. I do believe the Giants have about 15-19 million in cap space Odell and Collins are both coming up on free agency Not 1 guy on the Line is worthy of a big contract. We have 0 linebackers. 2 over paid DEs that combines don’t even get us to 10 sacks A CB that likes social media better then football. A 37 year old QB that is above God. A owner that has no clue on were to start and the 2nd overall pick. Hmmmm
Pugh goes. He gets hurt and even healthy can’t move anyone. He is a finess player that probably fits best with a dome team.
Richberg is average at best. Jones is the same player at a discount
Jerry is getting old and has mental break downs
Flowers is average at LT and is unknown at RT
Fluker player well for 2 games before getting hurt
Goodson isn’t the answer at the middle. He can’t cover and is hurt more then healthy
Kennard is average
Casillas conversation over. Average
JPP should of walked
This D has 4 players. 4. Vernon Snacks Collins Jenkins and upcoming Tomlinson
On offense zero running backs. A TE who is a receiver. A receiver that has all the talent in the world that implodes with a little smack talk A over paid blocking TE that can’t block and a 37 year old QB that if cut cry’s and the fans spend there mortgage on billboards to start him Who in there right mind wants this?
Solution.
Stay at 2. Draft your Qb
Keep Eli until 2019
Don’t resign Pugh or Richberg
Use the money that you would of signed on them for a LT.
Move Flowers to RT
Start Jones at center
Resign Fluker for another year at RG
Draft a LG round 3
Draft a RB round 2
Cut Marshall Jerry DRC
Trade Eli Apple
Resign Kennard at a good price
Draft WLB round 4
Draft CB round 5
Find one other free agent value at FS. Thomas is terrible
Cheers
