CAveat ...I bang these thoughts out fully aware that I'm a casual fan who doesn't read, invests little and knows the same. Feel welcome to disagree or embellish......
We are so absorbed with the NYG's that it's easy to forget, much of next year, and how well we play, is relative to the Division rivals. if they are weak again, it's easier (thanks to Cpt. Obvious) to make the division, and if ..............
So, during an otherwise slow time, and remembering this is pre-freeagent and draft ,it's worth speculating on our esteemed rivals.
PHILA..... Wentz got hurt in the playoffs - again. The team was crippled before that with the loss of both Jackson's , Jeffrey and a Compromised Cox. I think Wentz has come of age, he singlehandedly won the second game and i think was capable of winning the playoff game he was hurt in. They gave up a fortune to get Mahlik Jackson last year and felt he was the perfect piece to team with Cox and Graham. They were likely right and if he's back, they are going to be very tough.
same with DeSean, he gives them the field stretcher that will make Ashon jefffrey, Alequilar Nelson and the superb tight end even tougher.
CONCLUSION if healthy this is not only the division winner but i think the best team in the NFC
DALLAS.... Underachieved last year, maybe a window of opportunity closed. Prescott and Cooper are going to go from cheap to Dear with anticipated diminishment to the cap. Smith (OT) and Lee are moving to GreyBeards and Jones (the CB) is likely gone to FAgency along with Michael Bennett. Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith spark a fine Linebacking corp but look fragile... Still, a great RB and a fine offensive lines make them formidable. Except, I'm not a believer. I watch them kick Giant butt every year and , somewhat irrationally, I don't believe in this team and I think they'll go backwards under McCarthy. (note, wouldn't surprise me if I'm dead wrong either).
WASH... Chase, Sweat and Kerrigan...that's trouble, I don't care what the pundits are writing. I don't know how Williams doesn t return or Brandon doesn't get resigned and I think they're strong on both lines. Hankins looked good to me, I didn't see the cement slippers and the arm looks strong. I hate to say it, but I think they could be good or at least respectable and a tough out.
I suppose i feel the way we should (or "must") at this time of year..... I don't see a team we couldn't beat (only because of Philly's susceptibility to the injury bug), nor do I see a team that couldn't beat us...and likely will unless alot of things turn our right...,
Thoughts?
