New head coach. Young QB and defense with a lot of question marks still to be answered on this team. Pass rush, ILB, Oline, secondary. List goes on and on. I think how the Giants will approach this is simple. Free agents that are versatile and still in there prime with older veteran players that can help immediately. Players like Little at LB and Ryan at corner come to mind. Sprinkle in McCorty and Harris at FS and CB that have a lot of experience and still have some good football left can bring stability and knowledge at a good price.
Then the draft. I’m all over the place. Trade back(doubtful). At 4 the Giants have to find a player with abilities that no one has seen or are rare. Only a few players have this but have question marks that come with it
Simmons has rare speed and coverage ability for a guy his size. To capitalize on his skill set he needs to play ILB. Why? To run side line to side line vs the run and cover TEs and backs. His red flag. Can he handle inside llinebacker play and get off blocks inside vs the run
Okudah CB Maybe one of the safer picks. He is big, long, fast and can cover. But I have read that his short range burst may be average. And that’s normally to be expected on larger corners but extremely important in teams that get the ball out fast.
I’m actually thinking there best option is too if possible to take OT Becton. He is a rare prospect. Extremely rare. 6’7” tall 365 pounds but moves very well if not better then the other tackle in the draft. And he can bend So much power that no Defender will be able to bull rush him and has more then enough feet to move with speed. And he is extremely long. Megatron long. He can make lanes for Barkley and help protect our young DJ for the next 10 years. Guys like this just don’t come along to often.
I’m praying Dolphins or Chargers trade with NY and the draft this kid and pick up a 2nd round pick and maybe 3rd this year or next to move back a spot or 2 and land this kid. With 2 2nd round picks add ILB and maybe pass rush or center. I still think with Jones and Barkley the Line still needs to improve
