Let’s dream a little. Maybe a lot. But let’s not make it make believe. My dream senerio for the Giants starting in free agency
1. Trade Engram
I no I no. Rookie deal. Bang for buck and a miss match. I still believe the Giants offense always did better without him. Why. Because he can’t block and is always hurt. Let’s say the Giants get a late second round pick for him. Hmm. Maybe a team like the Titans or Texans that what some help on offense. A team that always trades for picks Rams!!!!
2. Sign Devon McCortey. I understand he is on the wrong side of 30. But he plays at a high level and is versatile and understands what Graham and Judge want to accomplish. And won’t break the bank
3. Sign Little LB. he and Connelly inside will be a pretty nice combination. I do love Simmons but I’m going in a different direction with the draft
4. Break the bank. In comes Clowney. Yes Gettleman make one big free agency splash. Clowney is a Giant and will like up rushing with Tomlinson, Lawrence, Williams and hill on rotation.
5. Williams remains a Giant. Most will not be excited about this but Williams is outstanding vs the run and does apply pressure. I don’t think he will get the money he is expecting and Gettleman spends on Defense
6. Harris joins the Giants at CB. Another defensive move.
Now the draft. I’m going to go through the selections prior to the Giant’s then after that only the Giants.
1. Bengals. Burrow
2. Redskins. Asking price to high. Stay with Young
3 trade. Dolphins move up. Go Tua
4. Trade. Chargers fear someone may strike. Move up 2 spots select Herbert
5. Lions. Odukah
6. Giants. OT Becton. Giants get there future LT but play him at RT his rookie year
Round 2. EDGE YETUR GROSS-MATOS, PENN STATE
Another pass rusher to team with Clowney, Carter and Xman
Round 2 from Chargers
CB A.J. TERRELL, CLEMSON
A corner to challenge Baker. Harris nails down CB1
Round 2 from Rams
C TYLER BIADASZ, WISCONSIN.
Giants finish there Oline with the best center in the draft
Round 3. Compensation pick
TE BRYCEN HOPKINS, PURDUE
Teams up with Smith. 2 young TEs and both can block!!
Round 4
LB TROY DYE, OREGON
Very good runner and vs the run. Quality debth behind Little and Connelly
Round 4. From Chargers
WR TYLER JOHNSON, MINNESOTA
With Shepherd concussion and Tate on the bubble. Slayton needs a pure outside receiver to help him. Shepherd and Tate are best in the slot
Round 5
RB ZACK MOSS, UTAH
Moss will be a solid RB2 behind Barkley. This is needed more then people think
Round 6
G LOGAN STENBERG, KENTUCKY
Giants have Gates as swing tackle and Pulley as back up center. Now they get there back up guard
Rounds 7
TE ADAM TRAUTMAN, DAYTON
There3rd TE arrives. All 3 can block.
Leki Fotu, DT, Utah
Competition on the Dline is always a good thing
Brady Ross, FB, Iowa
Yes Full Back. The Giants need a bruising FB to help protect Jones and plow hole for Barkley.
With this the Giants almost finish there offensive line and next year they are primed to finish the product at RT unless Gates takes over. Solder won’t be released until 2021. His 2020 dead cap hit is to high to release. Also get an outstanding young center and a few TEs to team up with Smith. Gettleman spends his free agent assets on pass rusher FS CB and ILB.
Giants are competitive again!!!
