This guy has interesting answers in my opinion. It almost sounds like a guy that’s been a head coach for years. It’s clear Judge is a process guy. Has a clear vision on his vision. Has processing built and in place to get there. And manages those processes. That’s a good thing because Macadoo and Shurmer I think both wanted to win. But both had a vision on how they wanted this team to look. But didn’t no how to put a foundation down and built processes to put in place to get the team going on the right direction. Both were offensive guys that cared about the offense and depended on there defensive staff to take a firm hold on the defense. Especially calling plays. I never believed in that. Only 1 coach right now can do it and do it consistently and that is Reid. Even Sean Payton I believe struggles with this. Until he got in good defensive staff in place that can take the defense and lead with minimal oversight Payton struggled. And with Breese in his prime you would think the Saints would of had more rings then 1
I’m liking what I hear from judge. Let’s talk defense first. Graham has never been a sack guy from one particular player. But has always been right there with his defenses in total team sacks. So I’m beginning to think coverage is most important to his scheme. So CB and FS become high priorities in his defense sending pass rush from everywhere. Maybe Simmons is a fit but I still think isn’t the biggest need. All of the suddon Brown and Odukah and 2nd day players like Davis, McKenny, Winfield, Delpit become high value players for this club.
Offense. Garrett I think will run a outside zone read and power run game. That will benefit Barkley tremendously. That’s the sane run game Dallas, 49ers and Chiefs run. Run the call right or left. Players block whoever is in there designated blocking slot. Barkley runs right or left. If they crash in. Run outside. If there is a seen. Put your foot in the ground and cut inside. Jones will be playing a lot of play action and 5 and 7 step drops. That will offer him a deeper pocket and a little more time to look downfield. And it will allow a deeper pocket to step into. Much better then this 11 personnel 3 step ball out finess offense we have seen for the last 4 to 5 years
So for this offense and defense I do think there discussion is secondary, Oline, receiver and yes Dline
