Excerpt: "In recent years, the New York Giants have had major roster turnover in their secondary. They have moved on from familiar names such as Landon Collins, Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Now with an extremely young developing core, Pro Football Focus has ranked the Giants as 27th best secondary in the league.
'James Bradberry is the big offseason addition to the Giants secondary, and while it’s true that few cornerbacks have had a tougher job over the past few seasons, given the division in which he has had to ply his trade, he’s also never quite lived up to the potential we saw as a rookie. Bradberry has consistently generated PFF grades in the 60s but has a rare skill set and should immediately look significantly better without needing to try and cover the likes of Julio Jones and Mike Evans twice a season. DeAndre Baker struggled badly as a rookie and was beaten for eight touchdowns in total, though his future is somewhat up in the air, given the reported off-field troubles. Beyond Baker, the Giants would be turning to Sam Beal, who played fewer than 300 snaps last year, or one of either Corey Ballentine, Darnay Holmes, Chris Williamson or Montre Hartage. So, for as much as Baker struggled last year, the prospects of a season without him would not be good."
"The thing that makes him (Saquon Barkley) different is he has the feet and speed of a little guy, with the power and strength of a big guy," Gettleman said. "That’s what makes him so darn unique. He’s different. It’s like he was touched by the hand of God, frankly."
Collins is washed up and badly overpaid. DRC is older and always hurt. He’s 34 and has played 9 games combined in the last two years. Will he even be on a roster? Jenkins is also past his best years, older, and expensive. They were a great secondary 4 years ago. They wouldn’t be now.
Revamping the secondary with younger, cheaper players was a good move. And they will prove to be better than 27th, they just haven’t proven anything yet - other than Bradberry.

At it again with the DG hate, oh I forgot it's not that, you're pointing out his miscues except I don't see where PFF is saying the Giants don't have any talent in the secondary. What did you expect him to do draft 5 DBs who were automatically All-Pros their rookie years ?
Beal was picked as a 3rd round supplemental and when the pick was made many were applauding it saying if he waited for the draft the following year he could have been a 2nd round pick. Baker performed well for Georgia, a major college power, for several seasons. If he plays lets see if he's 1)matured to understand he needs to be more mature and 2) if the new coaches can put him in a better position to succeed.
Odd there's no mention of Peppers or McKinney in the PFF discussion or your comments. Those too remain to be seen commodities but they go against the DG blew it again premise.
Any article quoting PFF is not worth reading at this point. They look at player's past performance and grade them on that. Grading a bunch of second year men on their rookie performance, or in Mckinney and Holmes case, nothing but college, is of little value. Even under a new system, these guys should show dramatic improvement over last year. It's really no different than them ranking Jones near the bottom of the pack even though he had decent stats as a rookie; but fumbled a lot. That can be fixed in the off season. So, I take all PFF projections with a huge grain of salt.
You guys, and particularly CT, are being baited. Go back and review threads, you see guys like CT putting forth a viewpoint, and doing it cogently and with effort and time with results that can only be called mini essays. The response is minimal, short, provocative, thoughtless sentences at best. Here he's used cut and paste. He's predictable, not just on football, but on any issue. He'll take the stance that allows him to be negative and caustic, it's where his agenda dictates, there is no effort, intelligence or even viewpoint. Mostly attention driven.
HE brings to mind Gertrude Stein's, "There is no there there". Stop falling for it, don't engage, to some degree you're creating him

You're 100% correct Grizz and most of the time I think we just smirk, consider the source and move on, at least I do, especially when the thread becomes a pissing contest. But sometimes you cave and respond. Could be a symptom of the lack of sports, the hope you can engage in a good discussion with people who may have another perspective, just to talk Giants football I don't know but it's all good.
