Hello Mr Hostetler-
Engram has apparently been playing well in camp as far as one can. The injury question is really interesting What if the NFL has far fewer important injuries this year? -
That might be it for pre season games. There may only be one of those in the future.
One thing that has me slightly worried is different folks are telling me different things about our QB. And the recent press was really glowing about Danny but someone in the know told me not so fast. In fact Colt McCoy our number two has looked better in camp. I haven't seen anything with my own eyes so I'm as anxious as any fan to get a view of 2nd year Danny Dimes.
It looks like everything is fine with Dalvin T. Not that he was hurt-- in fact this bedrock of our line has suited up FOR EVERY game in his carrier as a NY Giant. According to the owner we are trying to turn a corner and build something here and that has to involve eventually keeping players and getting 2nd contracts done. Sexy Dexy & DT that's your bedrock.
It's nice to hear that the NFL Network is high on the Giants!
Kay Adams, Nate Burleson, Peter Schrager and Kyle Brandt — spoke about the Giants’ very real chances of qualifying for the 2020 NFC Playoffs.
Burleson started off by stating the NFC East is not a strong division. A least it wasn’t last year with the Philadelphia Eagles finishing first with a 9-7 record.
“The Eagles were 9-7 and the Cowboys 8-8. With all that said, if you’re the Giants, why should I be scared of the Eagles and why should i be scared of the Cowboys? The Giants should be walking into the season saying ‘we can be NFC East champs,'” he said. “This division is up in the air.”
“I think the ceiling is playoffs,” Brandt said, taking the prediction up a notch. “Whether it’s winning the division or the wild card, you know I talked a lot about the Giants making the playoffs this year. They have a first year head coach (Joe Judge). Last year the Packers were a game away from the Super Bowl with a first year head coach.
“But more than anything, I just believe in Jason Garrett. I think Jason Garrett’s going to find a second life to his career. There’s some people — they’re just great coordinators — and maybe that’s the best fit. It’s like a Norv Turner or a Wade Phillips, they’ve done the head coaching thing, they’ve had some success. But when you get them as a coordinator it’s like getting a value, a head coach acumen with a coordinator price.
“I think the Giants’ offense is going to take off under Jason Garrett. It’s not just Saquon, it’s all of those guys. I’ll say it again. I’ll put the hat on next week. I think the Giants are going to the playoffs next year.”
Schrager agreed as well.
“I don’t think it’s crazy, Kyle,” he said. “I think there’s three wild card teams now in the new playoff format and there’s another spot for them to get in. And it’s such a weird season, maybe it’s the most disciplined team that tackles the hardest that gets in.”
Schrager was referring to Judge’s intense practices that have been more physical than prior coaches here and included a drill on Tuesday where players (including Judge himself) had to recover a loos football in the mud while being doused with a hose.
“You know Joe Judge gave another interview [Tuesday] morning with another radio show and he said this — I love this quote: ‘I don’t have a lot of time to mix fluff and try to make everything all sunshine and rainbows’. And I think the Giants players are responding to that.
“He’s being real with them, so playoffs are a possibility. They’re not going to the Super Bowl. They’re not winning the Super Bowl. But this is a very young team and I don’t think a playoff spot is crazy."
