Is Stingley Jr. Draft eligible this year? He is an outstanding prospect.
LSU star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. was hospitalized overnight on Friday and was discharged from the hospital Saturday night and is doing well, his father told ESPN's Mark Schlabach.
The school released a statement hours before its season-opening game against Mississippi State saying Stingley became "acutely ill" on Friday night but the condition was not COVID-19 related.
LSU's statement said Stingley's return to activity will come "after a full evaluation by the medical team."
>>> Obviously he has great pedigree! Check this fact out-->
Started walking backward at 4
Derek Sr. already knew what he had before his father confirmed it. Derek Sr. knew he had a future cornerback and started teaching him how to backpedal at the age of 4.<-------
Another fun fact-- He got a scholarship from LSU in his Freshman year of HS.... That's unusual and indicates the talent level.
Then-Tigers coach Les Miles offered Stingley a scholarship when Stingley was a high school freshman in 2015.
Miles was fired the next season, but Stingley ultimately signed with Miles’ replacement – Ed Orgeron....
I would say there's a good chance he comes out but a lot will depend on this crazy year if LSU does poorly or they have a massive breakout of Covid I would wait one more year and hope for a more normal football season to put on tape. The difference in the 1st round slot wise = millions of dollars. ~si
