forget the nonsense that there was no pre-season/exhibition games, all teams were in the same situation.
and forget the turnover of roster for players 35th thru 53, this also occurs on every team, even super bowl champs have turnover of 15 or more players.
now comes the part of the new coach and staff.
playbooks are not that different . when a coach calls plays might differ, but primarily plays and sets and shifts are very similar from coaching staffs. its why a player going to another team in most cases can contribute immediately. most plays are not that different.
but it brings to light the "talent" or lack of at the top of the roster, the top 35 players if you will.
no matter who the HC is going to be, unless he is given a semblance of halfway decent players, then you can be maybe almost halfway good.
rebuilds are not 4-5 years in nfl anymore, Im 60, Ive seen the old style, but today in the 2020's, going last to (Ill say) halfway good or even on the cusp of the playoffs should occur in ONE year, not three, four or five !.
In 3 years the bottom of the roster wouldve changed 3 times. the top of the roster would have guys leaving and F.A coming in too.
so here we are at 0-5. i hear they play hard for our new special teams, ummm Head Coach.
but giving up 36 & 37 points in two of the 5 games and not scoring a TD in another two games, kinda puts that theory to rest.
I would say , they play hard, all teams do, they have not quit, obviously there's not a mutiny.
so whats wrong.why is our #6 overall pick at qb not very good.(I would say, bad analysis by the scouts)
why has no receiver "stepped" up into a top receiver, as we witness throughout the league with young guys on teams becoming the new threats. its perplexing that this mgmt thought the receivers of Sheppard and Tate were to lead the charge, I dont think either would make another roster. and Slayton is not going to be a threat to anyone if targeted 3x a game.
why is there no backup for Barkley (again).
tight ends- in a league where the TE has become one of the biggest threats on the field we do not have one.
engram is not very good and a tweener, not big enough to block and too big for WR, Kaden smith who was a jiohn mackey award winner out of stanford is slow slow slow in a game of speed. and Toilolo is a blocker, no offensive threat to worry about for the defenses.
OL- how does our #1, 4th overall ,,,and now the talk is how he will be better at RT. in a league where the most important position is the LT, we drafted wrong then if this is where he ends up. his foot work seems to be slow and he does not pancake anyone on the run, which is evidenced by our run game'.
defensively, a DL projected to be good, but with out an edge rusher, how is that supposed to work.
and without a rush, the DBs are exposed.
so as I rant here, i realize this is all on the GM and Im giving a pass to Judge.
I really did not want to do that , because theres nothing , so far outstanding about his prep or game calls.
so does a new GM fix this, hope so.and how long does Judge get, 1 or 2 more years ?
I am just theres no in person games, saved me thousands, as I am season holder since '76. but I just look toward next year already, and the plans got to start now.
at the stage we are at, I would have open tryouts looking for the needle in the haystack now.
