Well my fellow fans. The Giants staff is becoming clear and the biggest surprise was the signing of our Defensive coordinator and going to a 3-4. With our roster set as a 4-3 for years and our line is built according to a 4-3 Defense with already glaring holes at linebacker this team maybe further away then we originally thought. How can this team turn it around in 1 year and get back to winning football with maybe the worse offensive line in the NFL zero linebackers in a defense that requires 8 and an very poor group of running backs. Not to mention a 37 yr old quarterback that can’t move or bad things happen and about 20 million in cap space and 6 draft picks and one compensation pick to do it in? My thoughts below
First the D. The fastest way to fill one roster spot at linebacker is Vernon. Vernon moves well and he may not be asked to cover much but play a Miller or Ware roll. Rush the passer but from everywhere. Ok now the other side. Believe it or not the 3-4 maybe a perfect fit for Kennard. He can rush or cover. Isn’t the best cover guy but will have to do for now if they decide to resign him. DE from this rookie class Moss is another guy that can play that Vernon roll. I can see JPP Tomlinson and Snacks as 3-4 and on 3rd downs vernon can go to a down lineman. Ok. So here is the other interesting thing. Collins is perfect for that nickel Hybrid Safety Linebacker roll if they can find another good safety out there. Maybe Adams and Thompson (Thompson is a weak link to me). So what’s needed. Safety and at least 2 inside linebackers
On offense I still think Flowers is a guard but that’s just me. LT will probably be free agent priority but there really isn’t anyone out there Other the Solder. Let’s say they don’t go that way but Guard. Resign Fluker and LT is drafted in Round 2. I doubt the Giants have the cap to go after Norwell or do they. Let’s say the do and Gettleman makes a few moves and free up some space The draft could go something like this
1. QB
2. LT
3. ILB
4. RB
4 from Hankins ILB
5 safety
6 OT
So we have 2 rookie linebackers on the field. One Oline and a RB. Of course the fastest way to find more cap space is to find a trade partner for Eli and that’s what I would do but hey I’m just a poster here. But I think that’s not going to happen And it also depends on free agency and who else gets cut
