An Eagle secondary ravaged by injury gets ready to feel the wrath of Eli Manning. With no run game to speak of the Giants will be passing on revery play and Ronald Darby just back or not from injury will not be able to keep up. Darby plays corner, Jaylen Watkins, who replaced Darby in the starting lineup last week ALSO GOT HURT. As well Safety Rodney McLeod left the loss to the Chiefs with hamstring injuries. Zach Berman of Philly.com reports that both players could miss multiple games as a result of the injuries, which would leave the Eagles down three in the secondary for their matchup with their NFC East rivals.
Phew!
-Corey Graham stepped in at safety and rookie Rasul Douglas is the next man up at cornerback.<--- TARGET!
“We have confidence in both of those guys,” defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said. “I’m not going to get up and give you the pluses and minuses of every player. … But it was the first experience for Rasul. It was not the first experience for Corey. Corey has been around the block. Rasul stepped in, and I thought he did a good job. He tackled well and made no mental mistakes. That’s a tough duty against what they do offensively from read option, reverses to shovel passes to jet sweeps to all the different stuff, and it’s a lot of moving parts. I was proud of him for that part of it.”
Apparently OT Chad Wheeler was the first priority for the New York Giants after the 2017 NFL Draft. The Giants handed Wheeler one of the largest contract offers for any undrafted free agent Only $20K I think. Chad has a lot of mental issues but he graded out pretty good before he went to the combine and only did 13 bench reps (again my memory)
Chad is an efficiently, smart, athletic pure left tackle who reminds me a lot of Browns Joe Thomas. He’s a smooth operator working his position with the fluidity of shark in deep waters calmly hunting for its prey. When pass block he comes off the snap quickly establishes his technique and then calmly without losing his techniques adjust to his opponents attack. What I like about Chad’s play is that he doesn’t lose his techniques, believes in them and never seems to panic when an opponent looks as if they are going to be beat him and sack his quarterback. Chad’s ability to recover and adjust and continue to trust his techniques along with his natural athletic talents shows maturity beyond most left tackles coming out in a draft. He has excellent lateral agility and foot speed to go out to the second level or be used on sweeps, screen plays or pulling. He can play in any offensive line blocking scheme. I suspect the closer we get to the draft Chad will be considered as one of the top players in this draft. - NFL draft analyst Drew Boylhart
IS IT TIME FOR THE CHAD ERA TO BEGIN-?? OR DO WE TRADE...
Wynn For Waddle. I believe that is the option. The Patriots want Kerry Wynn & we want Waddle. At least i do. For this game anyway Flowers looks sure to start but if he were to get injured would the Chad era begin? This is a rolled ankle most Giant fans might want to happen! It seems Jerry Reese's secret plans at tackle 1) this Chad Wheeler and the 2nd) was a ND DT he wanted to convert... alas Jerry had to get tricky and cut that player Jarron Jones who wound up on Seattle. After that the last choice here I think is LaAdrian Waddle.

The Giants have lowered their playoff chances already to 12%! It's incredible. It is for that reason this NFC East game with the Eagles is a MUST win. This is the earliest we have ever used the " must win " term in a Review. For three out of the last four years the Giants have put their fans through this. 3 out of four years we have all been in bad moods, eating poorly, drinking too much, lack of sleep. Feet twitching under the table, unable to focus, experiencing random anger surges, combined with a complete lack of energy. It's a lot like PTSD. This NYGD -- it is a disorder and it needs to be fixed this week.
The obvious answer that we need to establish the run so we can do the play fakes that's out the window. The Giants will go up or down in a ball of flames, a barrage of passes starting out to the edges of the field and then post after post. Eli will throw at least six long balls. Very long. The Giants have very highly talented players to catch them. However-- the real change must come from where it CAN come from -- the Defense. The Giant D has exposed to me a lot of flaws that need to be tightened up. Starting with controlling the edge something we did so very well last year. Lots of missed tackles and missed sacks. Eli Apple is close to being replaced by the guy we got from the Steelers. Cockrill, I mean if he wasn't a first round pick it would of happened already. This choosing of Eli Apple First Round... this is turning into one of Jerry's biggest blunders I feel. From what we all see on the field Apple is a NFL player for sure but more like a third round talent.
The defense has a role to play and so far this year Ben Mcadoo has not allowed them to play their roll. We need to dictate we need to control field position and we need to give Eli the ball around his own 35-45. For all the micro studying of Eli the one stat I would love to see someone run down is the Giant O when faced at their own 25 or worse... vs the Giant O when given great field position. The way Eli sees the field is entirely different. Back in his own end zone area forget about it sheer panic... but lined head up at say the 40 with an easy view of the 50 yard line, Eli goes into auto mode which will always get you a field goal when you want a TD but it will get you down the field to where you can continue to control field position. This game will be one of field position of our defense dictating that--- we'll kick a ton of FG's and hopefully score twice. From our D we are asking for a huge effort. In a must win game. Surely the Giants will be the hungrier and more dangerous team Sunday.
