NE has won a lot of super bowls facing relatively ordinary competition. And it happens like that a lot of years, I remember
Bird's Celtics against Kareem, Magic Worthy and then watching drab battle ordinary..
I'm more or less an advocate of going for the BPA and having a fling at it in Eli's last years but when I look at the
competition next year it is - after years of ordinary - simply amazing. I have never seen the conferencs so unbalanced nor so many superb teams.
1. Philly...gets Bennet and Wentz - a super team with a brilliant front office..
2. LA....Donald on his way to be an immortal, great young QB and brilliant RB with a young brilliant coach. This is a potential dynasty.
3. NO...gets Suh, and always the artistry of Brees.
4. Minn. Upgrades at the QB and could easily win the whole enchilada.
5. Atlanta...can playwith anyone and might be esp. motivated.
6. San Fran...has yet to lose a game with Jimmy and looks to extend it.
There's always a surprise team and any crew that's led by A. Rogers can take anybody down too and I have a suspicion that the Bears are ready to emerge too..
We've been having an intense discussion here about short term or long term - IE, Take a QB and build for the future or go BPA and try to ratchet up for a run next year. I think you have to be realistic and I'm not sure at our best that we could handle the best of this crew of very talented teams.
So I quess the question becomes: Should the strength of the league become a factor in our draft day strategy.?
