14 out of 39 QB’s from round 1 since 04 became franchise QB’s. I’m leaving out the 2017 Draft Class for now to see how these QB’s perform during their sophomore years. If they pan out than 15 out of 39.
The rest from the list are either just average QB’s or complete bust. However, majority of the QB’s selected in the top 5 have been very successful. There is also a big difference in talent from let’s say QB’s like Big Ben, Wentz, Rodgers verse QB’s like Alex Smith, Joe Flacco , Mariota, etc.
So if the Giants pick a QB at #2, are they going to get someone like Wentz/Luck or someone like Alex Smith? I think they need to be certain this player will turn into an elite QB in the NFL to spend such a high pick on one. It’s very unlikely all the QB’s from this class turn into elite players. Take the Peyton Manning/Ryan Leaf Draft Class for example or the Luck/RG3 Class.
Who do you think has the best chance to be one of the great QB’s in the league?
Thoughts?
