That's a hell of a take on 1st round receives.
I've held an anecdotal belief that WRs and and to a lesser degree CBs have the best value in rds 2 and 3. IMO, WRs are boom or bust selections. They can be terrible or really good. Contrast that with RBs who seem to be at least serviceable if not good. CBs need time, like OTs...imo.
There are enough areas of need that whomever Schoen really likes in those 1st, 2nd and 3rd round selections is going to be BPA at a position of need. After that, probably just BPA until the 6th and 7th rounders who are often ST type guys.
The only thing I'm not certain about is OL. With JE coming back from injury and hopefully Neal taking a step forward the Giants might not do much there but keep the same guys in place. Maybe draft one of: a center or a super high ceiling OG that they like, but I'd be surprised if they take more than one OL-men in this upcoming draft. Two tops with the second guy being a 5th+ rounder.
WR, ILB, DT are the biggest need areas. (IMHO, DT is a position the team should draft one in the first 4 rounds every 2 out of 3 years to keep enough quality guys on the roster for a decent rotation. That's what really helps to stop the run. Pay one guy you really like, in the Giants case, it's DL. Then rotate quality young guys for the other DT position. I like LW a lot, but there's not enough money to pay everyone, this is a better way to construct the roster.) With CB, TE and maybe another safety for depth if Love leaves.
