The only thing I'm not certain about is OL. With JE coming back from injury and hopefully Neal taking a step forward the Giants might not do much there but keep the same guys in place. Maybe draft one of: a center or a super high ceiling OG that they like, but I'd be surprised if they take more than one OL-men in this upcoming draft. Two tops with the second guy being a 5th+ rounder.
WR, ILB, DT are the biggest need areas. (IMHO, DT is a position the team should draft one in the first 4 rounds every 2 out of 3 years to keep enough quality guys on the roster for a decent rotation. That's what really helps to stop the run. Pay one guy you really like, in the Giants case, it's DL. Then rotate quality young guys for the other DT position. I like LW a lot, but there's not enough money to pay everyone, this is a better way to construct the roster.) With CB, TE and maybe another safety for depth if Love leaves.
I think the offensive line is definitely getting better but I would like to see them draft or acquire a center to solidify that position. Feliciano was a one year stop gap and I don’t know how they view Gates. Ezeudu has shown potential and was improving before he got hurt. I like Bredeson at left guard and I’m expecting Neal to improve.
This roster needs a lot more than most think. Unless luck plays into things. The problem is this roster is too heavy with contracts. Williams, Jackson, Golladay are taking up too much cap. We all know Golladay is probably gone June 1st. Williams is someone I would definitely consider cutting if he doesn’t take a pay cut or extend for less. Same with Jackson.
If they sign Danny to an outrageous contract Jones supporters think. Forget about it. They will have to tear the roster down even more. It’s an odd offseason fir the Giants. It’s harder to find Corners then it is DTs. So I would give Williams an option of reducing his pay or he is getting cut. I would let Golladay walk June 1st and try to get Jackson a new contract. Focus on bring in someone to stabilize the interior of the line. It’s a deep Oline draft. So my focus would go center in the draft and guard in free agency. Look into another veteran corner opposite of Jackson and get an upgrade over Love At Safety. Yes. Let Love walk. He lacks physical play, instincts and is too slow on processing what’s going on. I would love to see Bates leave the Bengals and become a Giant.
Something we all can agree on is this team desperately needs a MLB. A guy that is fast, smart and physical to set the tone out there. A true WR1 isn’t a must but a guy that can demand attention and still win 1 on 1 is truly needed.
Forget Barkley. Backs are easy to find every year.
Step 1. Cut Williams if he doesn’t take a pay cut
Step 2. Get Jackson under a new contract.
Between those 2 moves. They can find 12-15 million in cap space
Offer Danny a 2-3 year deal not over 30 million. If Danny demands more money or a longer contract. None exclusive tag him
Let Barkley walk
Find another corner in free agency that can play man to man opposite of Jackson
Get a stud guard on the left side of the offensive line
Try to find a WR you could trade for like Tyler Boyd etc
Do not bring back Sterling Shepherd. Hurt to much
Build the receivers room around Hodges and Robinson. If they can get a WR1 in here can draft or trade. Hodges and Robinson will thrive
Look at WR, C, MLB early in the draft
