The improbable season begins. In the Wild West one took numbers and remembered faces, one held grudges and when one's back was turned often revenge was felt. Face to face with the fastest gun in the west, often knees buckled, hands trembled there was no sheriff in town. In fact no lawman for many a mile. Anything could happen and often did.
By all accounts this is the most stacked Dallas Cowboy team the Giants have ever faced in recent history. You have to go way way back to find a Cowboy team with as many quality players. A list was recently assembled containing The Top 100 Players in the NFL and Dallas had the most players from any one team- Eight! Wait before we all jump off a bridge only one of the eight is really highly ranked Zeke Elliott at 18th best in the league. What is concerning though is Four of the Cowboys on the list were not on the prior years list: Jaylon Smith, Amari Cooper, Leighton Vander Esch and Byron Jones.
That little fact tells us that some players on Dallas are getting better and better. Now Dallas does have some losers among their winers, overpaid wise guy Demarcus Lawrence for one saw his stock FALL from 34th best in the league to 55th. This jerk when he signed his big money contract Thanked Eli Manning on Twitter. I kid you not.
- Upon receiving a promotional get-well gift from Snickers, Lawrence, recovering from shoulder surgery, posted about it
"Just when I thought the new deal couldn't get any sweeter," he posted on Twitter, referencing the huge $105 million five-year contract he signed with the Cowboys at the start of the month. "Anyone know Eli's address? I wanna send him some of these @snickers. #ThankfulForHisContributions"<---
Bulletin Board Material! Perhaps after the game Eli will leave a half eaten Snickers bar on his stool. That will be his goodbye to Dallas!
Dallas has the most players in the top 100 where are the Giants on that list... 3rd to last! One player on the list Saquan... Bitter reality sets in... The Giants are the biggest underdogs in the Game aside from the Raiders & Bills. The Giants are as a collective unit thought of as near the junkiest-- this label was applied by the NFL itself-- this is a blatant slap in the face to Mara & Tisch & Gettleman.
I would say the message to the team is: No one Believes in Us. It's one of the oldest tricks in the coaching books but no one gives us a chance and no one respects the players on this team.
This is a great set up for the Giants especially if the Cowboys begin the season without Elliott at running back. Notice how that betting line started at 7 1/2 and then went to 7. Someone bet on the Giants. This is the best chance to stun Dallas. And the man with the stun gun is Eli Manning. With the knowledge that his back is up against the wall and with the year starting anew and teams preparing for the old Eli Manning of the past few years, with no injuries and better accuracy; with a better blocking offensive line and the NFL's Top Running Back...it's all in place for Eli and the Giants. It's the Farewell Tour, the magical tour in which Eli pays back his enemies, his mockers, his long time rivals. So first up Demarcus Nobrain and his band of overhyped shiny panted wannabes. ~stoney
