Go ahead, Call me crazy.
I think I’m in a very small minority that is NOT discontent with Dave Gettleman.
I don’t think a lot of fans understand how hard it is to win in the NFL. How hard it is to nail every draft pick, how hard it is to nail every free agent move. A lot of discontent fans have tunnel vision and don’t see that every team in the league has the same misses on draft picks and free agent acquisitions….
Name a team that hasn’t made a bad free agent signing in the last two years…
Name a team that doesn’t have a bust pick in rounds 1-4 in the past two drafts…
Gettleman inherited a $%^&! show that had downward momentum. It’s not easy to catch a falling knife. The roster he inherited had a lot of players that JR overpaid to try to save his face. Gettleman has cleaned out the bad contracts. He inherited an overpaid, QB at the bottom of his career. You cant win with that and it’s not sustainable for the future.
Gettleman IMO has drafted very well. I always say that a team is built through the draft. All free agents are overpaid. The most efficient way to build a team is with good draft picks.
No one seems to ever give him credit for good picks. They’d rather bash him for anything else they can think of …..
Yes he made some bad free agent signings…. So have 31 other teams.
Gettleman’s biggest fault is hiring Pat Shurmur. Do you really think that DG sat in an interview alone face to face with Shurmur and just gave him the job no questions asked? I can guarantee you that Mara and Tisch made the call just as much as Gettleman.
Look outside your bubble, every team in the NFL has problems. It’s the NFL, its not easy and every team has ups and downs.
Call me crazy, I’m not discontent with Gettleman. I’m willing to debate the issues, but I’m not going to debate hindsight. (He should have done this instead of that) If I had a time machine I’d go back and the Giants would have won 10 straight Super Bowls…
