At first glance this upcoming Draft does NOT appear to be one to trade back in! It's so early and all the juniors have to announce their intentions so it's very hard to get a grasp of these things. Having taken a brief look here and there, I can say I come away somewhat ALARMED. This may not be a good draft past round three. Not only that but it's a tricky draft.
I like to take a look at Draftek they always do a pretty good job and they have us taking-> Giants choose Barkley instead of Rosen at #2. Ah.... that's not going to happen. I watched Barkley get swallowed up by some good defenses and if you don't have the blockers I don't see him making enough of a difference to warrant the second overall pick. And wow that's high for a running back.
Lets start with the good news... There are some pretty pretty tasty running backs in this draft.
Also there are some very good quarterbacks. It would behoove the Giants to select one of each!
As of this morning I would say it goes like this:
ROUND ONE- Quarterback/ Can't lose here Rosen, Darnold, Josh Allen
ROUND TWO- WILL HERNANDEZ OG UTEP. <-- This is locked in pretty much..
ROUND THREE-Nick Chubb Georgia RBF. <-- Love the Chubb
Other names of interest- I got a thing for this kid
RB Rashaad Penny, San Diego State –
Penny has forced 74 missed tackles – which leads all draft-eligible running backs – on his 277 rushing attempts. His elusive rating of 109.7 ranks No. 2 among draft-eligible running backs behind only Stanford’s Bryce Love. Penny also has breakaway speed in addition to his “make-you-miss” moves and his 31 runs of 15 yards or more ties him for first in the draft class with Love. Penny’s game-breaking speed is also evident by his punt return touchdown and two kickoff return touchdowns this season.-Bryce Love is great don't get me wrong but he may get drafted a little high vs Penny and the end result will be the same.
Value wise- it seems to me Round three is a running back round this year despite our needs at cornerback.
Completely enamored with Josh Adams, RB, Notre Dame-/// He may go high though it's tough to tell at this point. Also having a difficult time sliding in Bo Scarborough! THAT'S 5 GREAT RUNNING BACKS!
It's looks to me that the Third Round could be where we get our running back. The second our offensive lineman. The possibility is for a HEAVILY OFFENSIVE DRAFT FOLKS!!!!
That thinking provides this dilemma: Going Offensive in Rd 1... Is there a QB that can be had Rd THREE or FOUR that would allow us to go Defensive Rd 1 in which case Harold Landry of BC is Top choice along with Arden Key LB LSU & Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson. AND I THINK THERE IS!!!!<--- ALERT*****
Jake Browning -
Washington
Nick Fitzgerald-
Mississippi State
Jarrett Stidham-
Auburn
Luke Falk-
Washington State
Each of these guys is going to need a thorough review and comparison to Josh Allan of Wyoming. My spidy sense though is looking at Drew Lock, QB, Missouri if he comes out and I think he will.
Height: 6-4. Weight: 225.
Projected Round (2018): 1-3. I think. He has some issues. He has an absolute gun and throws too fast at times, he over throws... gunslinger mentality, I could go on. Completes 58% of his passes. He did however really finish the year strong. His arrow is pointing up that's why I think he will come out.
DRAFT ONE: Cannot Happen because it's ALL OFFENSE!!!! OR CAN IT-?
JOSH ALLEN QB
Will Hernandez OG // Backup Choice Orlando Brown Jr. OT Oklahoma
Nick Chubb RB
James Washington WR Oklahoma State
That's the problem with this draft it's a bit tilted to the offense....
DRAFT TWO:
Harold Landry or Arden Key Defense
Will Hernandez OG // Backup Choice Orlando Brown Jr. OT Oklahoma
Drew Lock QB, Missouri
James Washington WR Oklahoma State
<-- Would Need a round 4-5 running back! <--- Or CB! Tough!
Free Agency appears simple: Cornerback & Offensive Tackle & pass rushers & punter!
Just some early Draft thoughts to get you guys going. It has been a pleasure to guide you all as best i could through this supremely difficult New York Giant season. We haven't been this bad in a long while, somehow we have to make this work to our advantage. We have to nail the very best NYG draft in a long time and it's not going to be easy! Honestly, I'd rather an extra up front pick and give up rounds 5,6 & 7... I haven't been told this, but I'm getting the feeling this draft is not going to be deep. TV heads will try and tell you that's what makes it interesting, blah blah blah- I'm not so sure. I'm going to keep it simple and draft our next quarterback and at least one angry mean abusive lineman. For now it's this man.
