Q: How good will he be in the pros?
A: In my opinion, I feel like there’s nobody better than Josh Rosen. I remember his freshman year, my junior year, we played the University of Virginia, and he threw passes right on the money. I don’t want to say Brady-like, but I feel like Josh has that ability in him if he focuses and goes to the right team and ends up in the right system, I don’t feel like there’s any reason why he shouldn’t be the No. 1 pick in the draft.
Q: What about stories that he doesn’t always get along with teammates and has an outsized personality?
A: What I would say to that is No. 1, I’ve never had a problem with him, I don’t think anybody on the team ever had any problems with him. Josh is very intelligent. I don’t want to say it intimidates you, but I think he can rub people the wrong way if they don’t know how to take it or how to take Josh. Josh is intelligent, and Josh is a winner, man. I’m not just saying this ’cause he was my teammate — I firmly believe Josh has the potential to be one of the greats. And with the talent he has, with everybody comparing him to Sam Darnold, I just feel like Sam Darnold had a better team than Josh had. I feel like if you put Josh Rosen on the team Sam Darnold had, they go to the national championship. If you put Sam Darnold on the team Josh had …

It's been quiet and I wonder it will remain quiet regarding Darnold's throwing motion vs Rosen's release. Rosen throws a dart from the ear whereas Darnold throws it almost like a baseball. Will that elongated windup to release be make a difference in the NFL between a completion and a pass defended for an inc or int?
Two solid choices IMO regardless and anticipate Allen making more noise at the combine (or private workouts).
Who do you like?
Very insightful piece. Yeah, the teammate thing is way overblown. He also mentions a point that shouldn't be overlooked: UCLA is bad--real bad. Rosen didn't get much help. As far as the comparison with Darnold goes, USC had a better team in 2016; USC's OL was very weak in 2017 and this impacted Darnold's production.
I rank them: 1a) Darnold. 1b) Rosen. 2) Allen. I don't believe Allen is quite as elite as Darnold and Rosen. I see too many wild passes from him on tape. The other QBs, L.Jackson, Mayfield, and others are considerably lower than Allen. Mayfield will probably be a bust.
